Professionally custom built to a high specification by Doug Elliott in 1978 under the John Elliott Boatyard name. Mahogany BS1088 marine plywood all glued lapstrake construction with Iroko hardwood throughout. Masts and spars are Columbia Pine.
Excellent condition, the hull is varnished externally, the inside painted cream. The boat is 100% sound.
A raised foredeck and locker with doors provide good stowage.
The rig is a Standing lugsail main with a jib and small mizzen, all sails are tan coloured Terylene.
The pivoting centreplate is galvanised steel and weighs 28 lbs. a simple block and tackle are used to raise or lower it.
The rudder is wooden with a folding/lifting blade.
The main mast is mounted in a tabernacle with stainless steel standing rigging, making it very quick and easy to raise the mast ready for sailing, especially useful if trailer sailing. When lowered, it’s within the length of the boat.
All of the running rigging is in very good condition
An offset well takes a small outboard motor, a 2HP Mariner two stroke is included.
The galvanised trailer has a winch, jockey wheel and spare trailer wheel, the tyres, suspension units and bearings are all in very good condition.
There’s an overall cover, a pair of oars and rowlocks, a small anchor with chain and a warp, fenders, a fitted compass and a few other useful bits and pieces.
An overall weatherproof cover is included, which is also suitable for use when towing on a road journey.
A history of the boat will be provided to the buyer, along with a set of photos taken during the construction. A written survey report for insurance purposes can be provided if required, any inspection is of course welcomed.
The Scaith is located in Plymouth and is for sale on remote brokerage.
